I am a Senior Associate in the Development Team at Gerald Eve specialising in advising owners and occupiers in respect of compulsory purchase and compensation. My focus is on properties within the residential, industrial, retail and office sectors.
My background of working in the retail, office, industrial and educational sectors has given me a wealth of experience in broad range of property sectors.
I specialise in advising owners and occupiers in respect of compulsory purchase involving the assessment and negotiation of detailed claims for disturbance, valuation of property interests, and claims for the extinguishment of businesses.
In addition, I have extensive experience in advising on compensation arising from the effects of new infrastructure such as roads and railways.
MY RECENT PROJECTS
- London Borough – I advise a London Borough preparing estimates of compensation, negotiating private treaty agreements for the acquisition of property interests on commercial properties in advance of Compulsory Purchase Orders. Advice has also included an arbitration requiring advice on development opportunities and marriage value.
- Claims against High Speed Two – I have advised office, betting office and educational occupiers on compensation claims against HS2, including the assessment and negotiation of cases where businesses have been extinguished.
- Claim against Birmingham City Council – The claimant operated a business from a brownfield site in the Birmingham area which was acquired by the Council. I prepared the claim for compensation which was subsequently referred to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Tribunal), finally being settled prior to the commencement of proceedings.
- Clients include Ladbrokes, Betfred, Costa, AS Watson, Co-operative Foodstores, Stark, Travis Perkins, University College London – advising on statutory compensation to claimants affected by compulsory purchase involving the relocation of businesses, double moves, acquisition of part and business extinguishment.
