• I have advised on numerous transactions including sales, purchases and lettings as well as development appraisal and valuation advice, primarily within the industrial and office sectors. I also provide corporate advice to a variety of clients and have been involved with a number of investment transactions including multi-asset property portfolios.
• Throughout Scotland, and also into the north of England, I have carried out various property acquisitions and disposals of leasehold and heritable (freehold) interests for office, industrial, hotel and development properties.
• The clients I have acted and continue to act on behalf of include major PLCs, local companies and NHS trusts. Some of my specific clients include AG Barr, Northern Trust, British Car Auctions, Hertz, Arthur J Gallagher, Michelin, Aggregate Industries, EDF Energy, Yodel, Scottish Ambulance Service, Whitbread, Tarmac, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Brakes, ATS Euromaster, Ocado, East Dunbartonshire Council and Chivas.
• KPMG acting as administrators – I was instructed as the marketing agent/adviser by KPMG for property including a series of buildings on an 11-acre site, the majority of which were purpose designed/built to house a significant amount of machinery for timber production. I carried out a full open market campaign including direct targeting to potential occupiers and developers. The selling price achieved was very good and the clients were delighted with the outcome and advice provided.
• Chivas Brothers (part of Pernod Ricard group) – I acted on the search and acquisition of new headquarter offices in Glasgow on a leasehold basis. Following an extensive search and evaluation exercise I secured premises in Blythswood Square and negotiated a favourable deal for the 28,000 sq ft building.
• Arthur J Gallagher – I acted on the search and acquisition relative to the consolidation of several offices for them in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I advised on the lease exits of the existing premises and assisted with acquiring offices of 20,000 sq ft in Glasgow and 10,000 sq ft in Edinburgh on a leasehold basis.
• Yodel – I have advised the management team on matters for Yodel for a number of years and this has included the disposal of premises in Inverness, Aberdeen, East Kilbride, Edinburgh, Newbridge, Irvine and other locations. I have also advised on the freehold acquisitions of warehouse premises in Kilmarnock and a 100,000 sq ft warehouse property in Livingston, which was subsequently described by their MD at the time as their ‘best depot yet’. I subsequently won an industry award for ‘Industrial Deal of the Year’ for that particular transaction.
